Nearly $1.4 million - the first federal funds obligated for Oklahoma's recovery from two severe winter storms - has started to reach communities throughout the state, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced Wednesday.
Under FEMA's Public Assistance Grant Program, the federal government has obligated about $1.2 million to reimburse applicants for emergency protective measures taken before, during and after the Dec. 24-25, 2009, blizzard and the Jan. 28-30 ice storm. Another $245,000 has been obligated to help reimburse applicants for their costs to clean up debris created by the storms.
