WASHINGTON – A federal agency announced a $2.2 million project Thursday for a plan that eventually could lead to high-speed passenger rail service between Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
According to the announcement by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Oklahoma will use the money to complete a service development plan and environmental study for that segment of the South Central High-Speed Rail Corridor.
Also included in that announcement: $1.6 million to improve service for the Heartland Flyer in Oklahoma City and $384,000 to complete updates to the state's 1992 state rail plan.
