OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority has voted to seek a $178 million bond issue to widen parts of two toll roads.

Members were told during their monthly meeting Thursday that work on the Creek and Kilpatrick turnpikes should begin in late spring.

The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/noEeym) reports that the Creek Turnpike project would involve adding inside lanes to the road from U.S. Highway 75 to Memorial Drive in Tulsa. Inside lanes also would be added along the Kilpatrick Turnpike from Eastern Avenue to MacArthur Boulevard in Oklahoma City.

Traffic counts on both toll roads have been significantly higher than original projections.

OTA spokesman Jack Damrill says widening the Kilpatrick Turnpike will cost an estimated $69 million and the Creek Turnpike project cost is estimated at $76 million.
