CATOOSA – Agricultural products transported through the Tulsa Port of Catoosa boosted shipping numbers in August, port officials said, as volume and barge traffic increased totals.
Also, for the first time since March, total shipping volume topped 200,000 tons in August, said Bob Portiss, port director. Total inbound/outbound shipping through the waterway was 201,980 tons.
Barge traffic in August saw a 20-percent increase over July’s traffic, with 119 barges moving through the port, compared to 99 in the previous month.
Nearly a quarter of all cargo shipped on the waterway passed through the Port of Catoosa – the highest percentage since February. Over the entire length of the waterway, 23 percent of the total cargo came through the port.
Of the total freight that shipped through Oklahoma, 52 percent was handled by the port, a higher percentage than any month since January... FULL ARTICLE
