OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma is receiving more than $3.9 million in grants to fund highway-related projects.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced Wednesday that $1.45 million of the money will fund the installation of protections at three unprotected crossings in Ardmore.
Another $1.304 million has been awarded to help construct the Oklahoma City Sky Dance pedestrian bridge, and $1.15 million will go toward replacing the main access bridge to the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.
Officials say $48,334 will go to help expand the number of active disadvantaged business enterprise firms and $31,040 will go to install signage along the Rising Waters Ancient Mountains Scenic Byway.
The Federal Highway Administration invited states to apply for federal funding from 14 grant programs.
Agency officials say they received 1,800 applications.
