OKLAHOMA CITY
— The two Democratic contenders for governor say the economy would be their priority.

Lt. Gov. Jari Askins faces Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson in the July 27 Democratic primary.

The Republican candidates are U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin, state Sen. Randy Brogdon, Roger Jackson and Robert Hubbard.

Askins is finishing her first term as lieutenant governor after 12 years in the Oklahoma House. She has been the executive director and chairwoman of the state Pardon and Parole Board, a deputy general counsel under former Gov. David Walters and a special district judge.

Askins said her experience in all three branches of government makes her the best choice.

"I really believe I am the best qualified of those who have announced," she said. "It is going to be extremely difficult the next four years." FULL ARTICLE
