OKLAHOMA CITY - Sen. Brian Bingman on Wednesday said he has enough votes to become the next leader of the GOP-controlled state Senate.
"I am pretty confident I have the votes," the Sapulpa Republican said.
The Senate GOP caucus will vote for a new leader on Tuesday.
The GOP increased its majority in the Senate to 32 from 26 following Tuesday's general elections.
However, a special election will be needed to fill the seat of Edmond Republican Sen. Todd Lamb, who was elected lieutenant governor.
Bingman, 56, was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2004 and the Senate in 2006. He is a land manager for Uplands Resources in Tulsa... FULL ARTICLE
