OKLAHOMA CITY - Cleanup from last week's blizzard will cost the Oklahoma Department of Transportation between $4 million and $6 million, officials said Monday.
Gary Evans, ODOT's deputy director and chief engineer, said the department used 500 trucks and 1,000 employees to battle the historic storm, which dumped more than 14 inches of snow on parts of the state.
Most ODOT employees worked in 12-hour shifts, and some traveled across the state to help in the hardest hit areas.
Evans said the department also hired 27 different private contractors who helped clear the snow and ice with 57 pieces of equipment of their own.
"As storms go, this was a pretty good one," Evans said.
