The city has slated $10 million of a $44.7 million bond issue for converting the Armed Forces Reserve Center to a public safety complex and another $2.3 million for stormwater management.
Residents will vote April 5 on the issue that also will pay for improvements to roads and parks and recreation facilities without a tax increase. If the bond doesn't pass, taxpayers could see a decrease of about $20 per year for a $100,000 home, City Manager Dave Wooden said.
The Broken Arrow Ledger has specified on how each project will use residents' tax dollars in the bond's four categories. This edition focuses on the "Public Safety" and "Stormwater Facilities" categories.
Wooden also said Oklahoma law requires the city state specific projects for 70 percent of the estimated cost, leaving 30 percent for a contingency fund to cover inflation and unanticipated costs... FULL ARTICLE
