MUSKOGEE -- U.S. Rep. Dan Boren, Oklahoma's only Democrat in Congress and a member of one of the state's historic political dynasties, announced Tuesday that he will not seek re-election to his 2nd Congressional District seat.
During a news conference in Muskogee, the congressman said the decision not to run was difficult but was based on the demands of campaigning.
"Andrea and I have two young children," he said. "The prospect of 18 long months of fundraising, of campaigning, is something I had to take into consideration."
Boren said he had not ruled out a future run for political office.
"My dream job is governor of Oklahoma ... But that's 10 years down the road," he said.
Boren, the son of University of Oklahoma President and former U.S. Sen. David Boren, was first elected to Congress in 2004... FULL ARTICLE
