A
demolition crane was recently moved onto downtown's closed Boulder
Bridge. The $7.3 million replacement of the bridge was the most
expensive of the bridge work approved by city voters in a streets
package last year. The bridge, which dates to the 1930s and stretches
from First to Archer streets over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe
Railway tracks, was closed to vehicle traffic in 1998 and to
pedestrians last year after becoming increasingly unstable. Demolition
of the old structure is set to begin later this month.
