TULSA – In a move designed to add a convenient connection between downtown and the Brady arts and merchants district, the city of Tulsa announced a nearly $8.3 million construction project to rebuild the Boulder Avenue bridge.
Becco Contractors Inc. won the contract for bridge construction, landscaping, lighting and artwork installation. Work is set to begin in September and be completed by next summer.
The new Boulder Avenue bridge project, which will span the downtown BNSF railroad tracks and link First Street to Archer Street, is a step toward revitalization and increased economic development in downtown Tulsa, Blue Dome developer Michael Sager said.
Mayor Dewey Bartlett and representatives from the Brady Arts District Owners Association, Downtown Coordinating Council and the Tulsa Metro Chamber made the announcement on Wednesday.
“The Boulder bridge is absolutely vital to the continued linkage of the Brady District, the Blue Dome and the downtown corridor, the BOK Center and Oneok Field,” Sager said. “You have to have a way to drive around in a circle going from Archer Street, across the bridge back into downtown and back up Detroit Avenue the other way.” FULL ARTICLE
