A bridge in District 2 was closed after it was partially washed out Friday night.
District 2 Commissioner Darrell Yoder said a portion of the bridge on 433 Road southeast of Mazie collapsed after water undermined it.
Yoder said water flows off the hill during rainstorms. The bottom of the headwall fell in all the way across, said Yoder, due to water flowing behind the headwall.
“I just shut the whole road down,” said Yoder.
The structure, which was built in 1936 by the WPA, is approximately 20 feet long. Yoder said the bridge “looks like a perfect candidate for a box culvert” bridge... FULL ARTICLE
