Bridges spanning the Arkansas River doing fine, officials say

Bridges spanning the swollen Arkansas River are handling the near record-level volume of water and pose no threat of collapse, officials said Tuesday.

The four Arkansas River bridges that the Oklahoma Department of Transportation maintains are all in good shape, a spokeswoman said.

“So far nothing looks like it is going to have an impact on those bridges right over the Arkansas River,” said Kenna Mitchell, ODOT spokeswoman.

ODOT workers and its partners are regularly monitoring the Arkansas River levels, ensuring that the flow remains below the beams of each of the four bridges, located along Oklahoma 97 in Sand Springs, Interstates 244 and 44 in Tulsa and Memorial Drive (U.S. 64) in Bixby, Mitchell said...
