Where would be the best place to put another Shawnee interchange on Interstate 40?
East of town where Bryan Street meets I-40?
On the west side at Acme Road?
Or at Leo so the new regional park could be more easily accessed?
The Shawnee City Commission looked one of those locations — Bryan — in the eye Tuesday night and didn’t come up with an answer at all. Instead it voted unanimously to delay the decision until it had more information.
The only thing the seven commissioners agreed on was that if there is a chance of landing another interchange, Shawnee absolutely wants it.
At issue at Tuesday’s meeting was a resolution endorsing the idea that the Oklahoma Department of Transportation would ask the federal government to let it build the Bryan Street interchange. Several years ago, another commission asked ODOT to look into that idea...
