APACHE – In Apache, the community center needed a new roof.
But revenue was scarce in this small Caddo County town, where the biggest event is the annual Rattlesnake Festival. And a new roof was expensive – about $6,000 worth.
To make matters worse, the community center is the town’s most popular building.
“It’s used all the time,” said Apache Mayor Becky Skinner.
But the roof leaked.
In fact, the leaks were so bad that during the town’s last chamber event, officials scattered pots and pans all over the floor to catch the water...
