Candidates Kevin Stitt, Drew Edmondson say safe roads are priority

OKLAHOMA CITY — Both major party candidates for governor expressed an interest in making safe roads a priority for the state during separate appearances at an event Thursday.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Drew Edmondson said suggestions to abolish the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority are shortsighted.

But he said he would be cautious about proposals to add additional turnpikes to the system.

Edmondson and Republican gubernatorial nominee Kevin Stitt fielded questions from former Gov. Frank Keating during a forum sponsored by Transportation Revenues Used Strictly for Transportation at the Oklahoma History Center.
