The case against State Question 744 continues to build, with economists from Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma recently saying the education spending measure is a bad idea. Voters ought to listen up.
OU's Alexander Holmes criticized the question's mandate for a formula to determine education spending. Holmes is chairman of the university's economics department and a former state budget official. Larkin Warner, regents professor emeritus of economics at OSU, noted the measure's "unintended consequences."
Those have been well documented. Even conservative estimates of SQ 744's costs almost surely mean severe cuts in other parts of the state's budget, tax increases or both... FULL ARTICLE
