McALESTER — Tracy Davis, the Unit Manager for Oklahoma State Penitentiary’s H Unit — which houses death row — acknowledged Wednesday that it’s not necessarily easy to speak out against State Question 744.
After all, SQ 744 calls for increased funding for common education, to bring Oklahoma public school students up to the six-state regional average.
Still, Davis spoke up because he contends passage of the bill could result in a matter of life and death for correctional officers — not only at OSP in McAlester, but at other prisons across the state as well.
