On Thursday House Republicans passed a rules change that will allow the government to tap into the Highway Trust Fund, that had been protected since 1998.
Now, transportation planners are concerned they will now face budgets contraints, if the Senate also gives it the go-ahead.
Most of Waleah Turner's days are spent on the road, making sales calls. She's worries about her commute, if the money is taken away from Oklahoma's road projects.
"It's pretty much going to be a nightmare to get around, to drive." Turner says.
Even with the changes to the highway trust fund in place, ODOT really doesn't know how much it will affect your commute in the coming year.
Senator Jim Inhofe closely monitors Oklahoma's Federal highway funding.
Our state has some of the worst bridges and roads in the nation and relies on federal money to keep them safe.
