DURANT, OK -- The Choctaw Nation is teaming up with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to beautify Oklahoma roadways.

This week, seeds are being planted in six different locations throughout the Choctaw Nation in an effort to not only go green, but to beautify Oklahoma. Monday, crews worked on the median in front of the Choctaw Casino in Durant.

"What we're after is a wow factor as people are going by 70 mph oh that's really pretty," said Melody Johnson of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. "So that the community will see that we do take pride it's also a go green initiative that we're working on right now throughout the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma," said Janine Dills of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

The flowers will reflect the colors of the Choctaw Nation's seal. They are expected to bloom over the next year to two years.
