City approves $1.4 million for airport access road realignment

A budget amendment for the City of Stillwater’s $1.42 million contribution to a $4.3 million realignment of the access road leading to Stillwater Regional Airport was approved by the City Council on Monday.

The Council authorized taking the funding from the city’s one-half cent transportation sales tax to cover its share of the cost. The money has been held in reserve for that purpose.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is providing $2.8 million for construction and $65,000 for environmental studies.

This will be the third and final phase of a project designed to improve access and increase safety by realigning and widening Western Road from just west of the Oklahoma State University campus to Airport Road... FULL ARTICLE
