City Council to talk roads in study session

Streets are a hot topic in any community and Stillwater is no exception.

The Stillwater City Council has scheduled a study session Monday to take an in-depth look at the city’s transportation infrastructure. Because it’s a study session, they won’t take any action but the public is encouraged to attend and give input during the meeting.

The council will hear a presentation from Transportation Director Monty Karns about an Oklahoma Department of Transportation plan for state Highway 51, which is also called 6th Avenue as it crosses Stillwater. The project would widen the roadway and make improvements to it, extending from Western Road to just east of the railroad tracks between Lowry Street and Perkins Road.

The project is part of ODOT’s Eight Year Plan and is scheduled to be complete in fiscal year 2025... FULL ARTICLE
