EDMOND — City Engineer Steve Manek discussed recommended transportation improvements recently with the City Council that are included in the Transportation Master Plan.
Reconstruction on Covell Road from Marilyn Williams Drive to Thomas Drive is funded at a cost of $10 million. Design plans are complete and rights-of-way have been acquired for the $10 million project. Utilities have been relocated, Manek said.
About $7 million of this was paid for by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, leaving $3 million funded by the 2000 sales tax for capital improvements projects (CIP), assistant City Manager Steve Commons said in March.
“We are anticipating an October (completion) date by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation,” Manek said.
Money saved by ODOT’s $7 million contribution is free to help fund the Intelligent Transportation System, the City Council’s top priority for short-term road improvements... FULL ARTICLE
