Commissioner closes road; wants GRDA to pay for repair

Mayes County Commissioner Alva Martin closed down a county road in District 1 Monday until someone agrees to pay for damage.

Grand River Dam Authority and Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative are partnering on a project to build an electrical substation on 460 Road off Highway 69. Heavy trucks hauling material have damaged the blacktop road, creating large wheel ruts, Martin said. He attended a GRDA meeting three weeks ago and described the damage. He said he requested $70,000 for repairs.

Since that time, Martin said he has not been contacted by GRDA.
