The Bradley Ford Bridge, near the Nicut area, washed out during recent rain storms and will cost about $1 million to repair completely. That’s why Jim Rogers, Sequoyah County District 1 commissioner, asked state and tribal agencies for help last week.
Rogers met last week with officials from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the Cherokee Nation, the Sequoyah County Soil Conservation Service, the county engineer and residents to discuss how to get funds to rebuild the bridge.
Rogers told the group, “We’re looking for help. We’re really in a crunch.”
Rogers said he has been trying to save money for chip-and-seal road projects since he took office in January, but he only has $150,000 in the account, and using that money would set his road improvement projects back about six months... FULL ARTICLE
