OKLAHOMA CITY (JR) – 7-Eleven Stores, Element Fusion, Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, Cardinal Engineering and First National Bank of Miami received the 2011 overall Beacon Awards Tuesday night at The Journal Record’s fourth annual tribute to area businesses and organizations for their contributions to the nonprofit community.

The five were selected from a group of more than 20 finalists to receive the awards at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City.

Pros 4 Vets received a special award at the event for the organization’s commitment to community involvement. The organization, co-founded by Toby Keith, was established to raise awareness of the issues wounded U.S. veterans face as well as provide support to vets and their families.

In addition, Oklahoma City Orchestra League and Oklahoma Humanities Council received special recognition in the nonprofits helping nonprofits category. These nonprofits exist solely to contribute support to another nonprofit... FULL ARTICLE
