Residents offer alternatives to dealing with the hazard on the S.H. 51 Bypass.

TAHLEQUAH — State and local officials said this week they’re trying to identify funding sources to install a signal light at a dangerous Tahlequah intersection.
The city administration and Oklahoma Department of Transportation have been working for several months to get approval for the signal and funding for its installation.
A sign has been installed for east-west traffic on Fourth Street at the State Highway 51 Bypass, warning motorists that traffic along the bypass doesn’t stop at the intersection.
Some residents are questioning the use of words on the signs.
“That [sign] should insult the intelligence of everyone in Cherokee County,” said Ralph Winburn, who lives on the west side of the intersection... FULL ARTICLE
