State
Rep. Mike Thompson announced today that three business leaders will
serve as co-chairman for his 2010 bid to win a seat in Congress.
Thompson, R-Oklahoma City, said Larry Nichols, David Rainbolt and
Tim Duit will serve as co-chairmen of his campaign to win the 5th
Congressional District post held by Mary Fallin. Fallin, R-Oklahoma
City, is not seeking a third term to run for governor.
Nichols, chief executive officer of Devon Energy, said Thompson is
known for his hard work and expertise in the transportation, business
and energy fields and “has emerged as one of the foremost conservative
policy experts and pro-business voices in the state House.”
Rainbolt, CEO of BancFirst, said Thompson’s common sense,
conservative values and positive energy have made him “an effective
leader in the state House and they will no doubt help him hit the
ground running in Washington as our congressman.”
“During his tenure in the Legislature, Mike has fought successfully
for tax cuts and called for much needed budget reforms,” said Duit,
president of TTK Construction. “He is a leader in promoting the pro-growth and pro-business policies that we desperately need in Washington.”
Thompson is a commercial real estate agent. He was elected to the
House in 2004, and is not seeking re-election to run for Falllin’s seat.
