A $22.6 million contract to begin reconstruction work on one of Oklahoma City’s busiest interchanges was awarded Monday by the Oklahoma Transportation Commission.
Haskell Lemon Construction Co. submitted the winning bid of $22,630,376 for the work on the Interstate 235/Interstate 44 connection.
The Oklahoma City company will reconstruct the southbound I-235 ramp to westbound I-44. Construction is expected to begin in late spring or early summer and take a little more than a year to complete.
The project will replace the current ramp with a longer ramp that will provide motorists with an easier and safer transition between the two interstates, state transportation officials said in a news release. Travel on the current ramp is expected to continue unrestricted during most of the project, although temporary lane closures are expected toward the end of the project when the new ramp will be tied into the current roadway...
