Panel OKs contract for bridge project
The Oklahoma Transportation Commission on Monday approved a contract to build a bridge that will replace one of the lowest-rated bridges in northeast Oklahoma.
The commission awarded a $6.1 million contract to Manhattan Road and Bridge Co., of Tulsa, to replace the westbound State Highway 66 bridge over Bird Creek, which was built in 1936 during the Great Depression.
It is expected to take about six months to complete the project in Rogers County, north of Catoosa and south of Owasso.
The 800-foot span originally was scheduled to be replaced in 2012, but the structure has been deemed structurally deficient and was closed in December because of deteriorating conditions and road capacity... FULL ARTICLE
