Sequoyah County legislators announced two road improvement contracts have been awarded by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT).
State Sen. Jim Wilson (D-Tahlequah) and State Rep. John Bennett (R-Sallisaw) announced the awarding of a contract for U.S. Highway 59 and State Highway 101.
According to ODOT, the project involves asphalt resurfacing along U.S. Highway 59 from the State Highway 101 junction extending north. Asphalt resurfacing will also be along State Highway 101 from the U.S. Highway 59 junction, extending east.
Wilson said the State Transportation Commission awarded a $1,599,833 contract on the project to Job Construction Co. Inc. The Poteau company was the lowest of four bidders for the job Bennett said.
