With snow cleared or melted off many county roads, crews now seek to melt the ice.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation discouraged travel, especially in northeast Oklahoma.
“It seems like traffic is moving a little better,” said District 3 Muskogee County Commissioner Dexter Payne. “If we get the sun on our sand and salt mixture, it could help melt the ice a little.”
Payne said the county is using a mixture of 100 pounds of salt to 1 ton of sand.
