OKLAHOMA CITY
- Construction contracts to widen portions of the Creek and Kilpatrick turnpikes are expected to be put up for bids early next year, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority was told Friday.

During a special meeting, the authority voted to move forward with the sale of bonds to finance the projects in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

The Turnpike Authority plans to add inside lanes to the Creek Turnpike from U.S. 75 to Memorial Drive. The project involves about seven miles.

Inside lanes also will be added to the Kilpatrick Turnpike from Eastern Avenue to MacArthur Boulevard. The project involves about 7 1/2 miles.

The additional lanes are needed to alleviate traffic congestion, officials have said.

A spokesman said Gov. Mary Fallin supports the projects because they will "cut down on congestion, improve safety and do so without raising tolls." FULL ARTICLE
