ROGERS COUNTY, Okla. - A Green Country bridge could be putting drivers' safety at risk, and crews are working to divert traffic off of it as soon as they can.

Hazel Ward is the proud owner of the Nut House. It's a tourist spot along historic Route 66.

But getting there means taking the Bird Creek bridge.

"It's kind of scary. When you look along the sides and you can see the concrete is completely broken away," Ward said.

While it takes just seconds to drive over the bridge, you're still nervous. But when you stop and see the damage up close it gets more concerning. You can see missing chunks of concrete and exposed rebar.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has made 40 emergency repairs in just three years on the westbound portion of the bridge.

"To go in and do the extensive repairs that this bridge would need, it's to the point that where would you stop? If you start on the deck, then you'd have to work on the structure of the bridge itself, and at that point you're having to do a full replacement," said Kenna Mitchell with ODOT... FULL ARTICLE
