State Rep. Dan Sullivan, R-Tulsa, was chosen Thursday by Grand River Dam Authority directors to head the state-owned utility.

Sullivan was one of six people interviewed by GRDA directors in August at a Tulsa hotel. It was learned Thursday that one of those six, Maine Public Service Vice President Tim Brown, has already been hired by the GRDA for the newly created position of chief technical officer.

Others interviewed were Robert Eckenrode, former CEO of Northeastern Oklahoma Rural Electric Cooperative; Howard Ground, manager of governmental and public affairs for AEP-PSO; Tim Peters, a Houston-based energy consultant; and Steve Walsh, former Middle East vice president for international energy company AES.

Following nearly two hours in executive session Thursday morning, the GRDA directors voted 4-3 to authorize director Brent LaGere to offer the job of chief executive officer and director of investments to a candidate not named in the motion.

LaGere, Greg Grodhaus, David Chernicky and Dewey Bartlett voted in favor of the motion. Chairman Steve Spears and directors Chris Meyers and Betty Kerns opposed it.
