For the eighth time this year, Oklahoma Department of Transportation contractors are set to tear down a deficient bridge in the area and replace it with a new span.
Manhattan Construction Co. crews will begin demolishing the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 44 bridge over 163rd East Avenue on Friday night.
Work is set to last through the weekend, with 163rd East Avenue closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
This weekend's demolition will mark the eighth area bridge ODOT contractors have replaced this year.
The others are the junction's westbound bridge, two bridges at I-44 and 193rd East Avenue, two bridges at U.S. 169 and Pine Street and two bridges at I-44 and Darlington Avenue.
To make room for this weekend's demolition, ODOT will shift I-44's eastbound traffic to a portion of the new span, which is now under construction over 163rd East Avenue... FULL ARTICLE
