SALINA — Mayes County District 3 is planning to straighten a county road to make it safer for motorists.
District 3 Commissioner Ryan Ball said he plans to bring Southeast 4439 Loop straight down to a T where it intersects with Kenwood Road. Ball said motorists have a limited sight distance when they try to pull onto Kenwood Road. Southeast 4439 Loop comes off the hill by the Salina VFW and curves north as it intersects Kenwood Road.
Ball said the locals start watching for traffic at the top of the hill and then quickly look left when they reach the highway. Straightening the road will allow motorists to see a longer distance when they reach the highway.
Mayes County commissioners approved engineering for redirecting the road in a meeting Tuesday. The county will pay Guy Engineering $22,305 to engineer the section... FULL ARTICLE
