COMANCHE, OK (TNN) - Downtown Comanche will soon be getting new sidewalks thanks to a $689,194 grant from the state.

Comanche City Manager Chuck Ralls says he’s been fighting for what’s called a Transportation Alternative Program grant through the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for three years.

"The sidewalks are in horrible condition. They’ve been deteriorating for many years and the city has not had funds to maintain and upkeep the sidewalks. They’ve caused a lot of problems, trips and falls and inaccessibility. We don’t have any ADA compliant ramps and so it makes it difficult for the seniors,” Ralls said.
