EDMOND — The city has been awarded $1.7 million from the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments to go toward the installation of a citywide traffic and communication system, officials said.
The system, known as an intelligent transportation system, could cost the city between $8 million and $10 million.
Edmond Traffic Planner Tom Minnick said the money from ACOG will be available in October. The city applied to the group for the award.
City officials said they hope there will be more money available in future years to help pay for the system, which will be installed in phases over the next four or five years... FULL ARTICLE
