Educator off base with criticism of common ed funding (EDITORIAL)

The myopia rampant among the education establishment in Oklahoma never ceases to amaze. Witness the remarks by Terry Kellner, superintendent of Mooreland Public Schools.

Kellner was among administrators from across the state who visited Tulsa last week for the state superintendent's annual leadership conference. While there, they received their tentative allocation of state funds for the upcoming school year. Kellner's small district in northwestern Oklahoma has seen its fund balance fall by nearly one-fourth this year, the result of these trying economic times.

Kellner told the Tulsa World, "Quality education as we know it has come to a screeching halt. I feel sorry for the kids of Oklahoma." Then he added this doozy: "The Legislature stopped making public education a priority." FULL ARTICLE
