TULSA - Seven days a week, the sun beats down on the highways and turnpikes across the state. The Creek turnpike is the most recent to be affected
Jack Damrill, with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority told 2NEWS the heat has caused the roadway to shift, dropping pieces of concrete onto lanes of traffic below.
Crews will have to wait for temperatures to drop below 100 degrees before they begin repairs, in the meantime officials say the turnpike is safe to drive on.
