WASHINGTON — With an eye on the upcoming construction season, Oklahoma transportation officials are waiting to see how figures shake out from yet another short-term funding extension for road projects across the state.
Federal funds now will be available only through the end of February under the latest stopgap provisions passed as part of a defense bill just before Congress left town.
"These continuing resolutions are problematic for any transportation agency in trying to provide any continuity in their construction work plans,'' said Mike Patterson, director of finance and administration for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
Patterson conceded the latest approach provided under the new law is better than a previous 30-day extension...
