NORMAN — In the 1970s, Oklahoma transportation planners envisioned a modern, six-lane interstate between Interstate 40 on the north and the Canadian River on the south. It would serve a booming metropolitan area that still had stretches of farmland in between.
Now, more than 35 years later, the project’s completion is just a few years away. Transportation officials unveiled the final leg of the multi-year project Wednesday night. It follows a meeting last year where various design options were discussed with follow-up comments from those most impacted by the changes.
An estimated 75,000 motorists travel that section of the interstate each day... FULL ARTICLE
