Kansas spends more on schools — and gets more

Now that the contentious campaign concerning State Question 744 is over - but before the topic of adequate state funding for public schools fades from the minds of voters and policymakers - some logical analysis is in order.
It's not universally agreed that increasing funding to public schools will solve any problems, and I insist that money alone won't solve any problems. But, for the sake of argument, let's assume that funding has to be part of whatever solution is needed.
As the proponents of SQ 744 accurately pointed out, Oklahoma is near the bottom in the nation in the amount of money it puts into public schools per pupil.
The six states surrounding Oklahoma all put more money into common education on a per-student basis.
So, let's look at one of those states that invests more money in its school system - Kansas - and follow the money... FULL ARTICLE
