Former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor said Thursday she opposes a state question intended to mandate increased funding for common education.
“I am a strong proponent of a well-funded public education system," said Taylor, now an education advisor to Gov. Brad Henry. "However, I am opposed to State Question 744. I am deeply concerned about the impact it will make on other services necessary for our kids."
The measure would require per-pupil funding at the same level as surrounding states, a mandate that could cost as much as $1.7 billion annually when fully implemented.
