OKLAHOMA CITY — Gov. Brad Henry has signed legislation authorizing a feasibility study on finishing the Gilcrease Expressway and continuing appropriations to the Oklahoma State University Medical Center.
Henry signed House Bill 3220 requiring the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority to conduct the feasibility study and House Bill 2445 making a $5 million appropriation to the Oklahoma State University Medical Authority, according to a bill signing list put out by the governor's office on Tuesday
HB 3220 puts the Gilcrease Expressway project on a list of approved toll roads. The Turnpike Authority would have to vote on whether to build it.
"Passage of the Gilcrease Expressway feasibility study is the first step in fulfilling a critical need for the Tulsa region," said Tulsa Metro Chamber Chairman Don Walker, president CEO of Arvest Bank. "It has, and will continue to be, a top priority of the Tulsa Metro Chamber's Regional OneVoice Legislative Agenda until this critical leg of roadway is built.
