OKLAHOMA CITY – Saying he wanted to get an early start on a difficult problem, incoming Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman, R-Sapulpa, announced the leaders of his budget committee this week.

Bingman said he decided to select an Appropriations Committee chairman and vice chairman before other committee selections so lawmakers could “focus on the budget challenges ahead.”

Bingman said Clark Jolley, R-Edmond, has been named as the vice chairman of the Senate’s budget committee. David Myers, R-Ponca City, will serve as the committee’s chairman. Part of the team that writes the state’s $6 billion budget, the Senate’s Appropriations Committee is the body’s most powerful group.

Bingman said Jolley would do well in the position.

“Senator Jolley will do an excellent job as appropriations vice chairman,” he said. “He is ready to start the difficult budget work ahead.”

Jolley said his goal was to “put Oklahoma in the position to succeed economically and create jobs.” FULL ARTICLE
