Voters will decide on 10 seats

Despite the outcome of the Nov. 2 races for state Senate, Democrats will remain in the minority.
Senate Democrats are concentrating on defending open seats, most of them vacated because of term limits.
The Senate has 26 Republicans and 22 Democrats. Ten Senate seats are up for grabs this year.
“Mathematically, we can’t get the majority,” said Senate Democratic Leader-designate Andrew Rice, DOklahoma City. “We have five opens to defend. This is the third election cycle in a row going back to 2006 that we had a lot of open seats to defend.
That puts us on the defensive quite a bit.”
Republicans, meanwhile, are hoping to pick up at least three seats. That’s the goal of Jared Brejcha, the executive director of the Oklahoma State Republican Senatorial Committee. “In the last few years, Republicans have picked up two seats each cycle. We feel we can do at least that and hopefully even better because of the favorable environment,” he said... FULL ARTICLE
