Gov.-elect Kevin Stitt urges caution in spending $612 million in state growth revenue

OKLAHOMA CITY — Gov.-elect Kevin Stitt on Wednesday cautioned lawmakers and agency heads that additional state revenue will not be treated as a “blank check” for pet projects.

His remarks came following a state Board of Equalization meeting, where members were told the state will have an estimated $612 million in additional dollars over what was appropriated for fiscal year 2019.

It represents an 8 percent increase.

The projected state budget is nearly $8.3 billion.
